Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 17213

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Indeed, Allah Almighty is too modest before an elderly Muslim who is righteous and a follower of the Sunnah, that he should ask something of Allah Almighty and Allah Almighty not grant it to him."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Salih bin Rashid, whom Ibn Hibban declared thiqah (trustworthy), and there is weakness in him; the remaining narrators of this narration are thiqat (trustworthy).
