Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 17180

Jubayr bin Nufayr narrates: Sayyiduna Awf bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) came out to the people and said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has commanded you to seek refuge from three things: from greed where there is nothing to hope for, from greed that turns one back to a base disposition, and from greed for what is not to be hoped for."
Tabarani recorded it with several chains; the narrators of one of them are thiqat (trustworthy), though there is disagreement about some of them.
