Sayyiduna Jubayr bin Mut'im (may Allah be pleased with him) transmits this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "The expiation for a gathering is that a person does not get up until he has recited:
'Subhanaka Allahumma wa bihamdika, la ilaha illa anta, tub 'alayya waghfir li' (Glory be to You, O Allah, and praise is Yours; there is no god but You; accept my repentance and forgive me)."
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A person should recite these words three times. If some slip occurred during that gathering, they will become its expiation, and if it was a gathering of remembrance, they will become a seal upon it (upon that remembrance)."
Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Khalid bin Yazid al-Umari, who is da'if (weak).
