Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 17140

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: We were forbidden from following the stars with our eyes when they shoot across the sky, and we were ordered to recite at that time:
'Ma sha'a Allah, la quwwata illa billah' (What Allah has willed (will be so), and no strength can be had except with the help of Allah Almighty.)
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Abd al-A'la bin Abi al-Musawir, who is matruk (abandoned).
