Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: When a strong wind blew, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would turn his face towards it, kneel down on his knees, spread out both his hands and make this supplication:
'Allahumma inni as'aluka min khayri hadhihir-rih, wa khayri ma ursilat bih, wa a'udhu bika min sharriha wa sharri ma ursilat bih. Allahumma ij'alha rahmatan wa la taj'alha 'adhaba. Allahumma ij'alha riyahan wa la taj'alha riha'
(O Allah, I ask You for the good of this wind and the good of what has been sent with it, and I seek refuge in You from its evil and also from the evil of what has been sent with it. O Allah, make it a mercy and do not make it a punishment. O Allah, make it "riyah" (that is, a source of comfort) and do not make it "rih" (that is, a means of destruction).)
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Husayn bin Qays al-Rahabi, Abu Ali al-Wasiti, whose nickname is "Hanash", and he is matruk (abandoned); Husayn bin Numayr declared him thiqah (trustworthy), and the remaining narrators of this report are the narrators of the Sahih.
