Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Busr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I set out from Hims, and night overtook me at a place that was barren and desolate. There, some (unseen) creatures of the earth came to me, so I recited this verse of Surah al-A'raf:
"Indeed, your Lord is Allah, who created the heavens and the earth" [Al-A'raf: 54]
I recited it to the end of the verse, that is, the complete verse.
(The narrator says:) Then one of those creatures said to the others: Now guard him until the morning. The narrator says: When morning came, I mounted my riding animal (that is, and left that place).
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, al-Musayyab bin Wadih, whom more than one scholar declared thiqah (trustworthy) while a group declared him da'if (weak), and the remaining narrators of this report are the narrators of the Sahih.
