Sayyiduna Abu Las al-Khuza'i (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave us some camels from the camels of charity (sadaqah) to ride. We said: "O Messenger of Allah, we do not think that we will be able to ride these." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On the hump of every camel there is a devil. So when you are about to mount it, mention the name of Allah over it as Allah Almighty has commanded you, and then bring it under your control for yourselves; by the permission of Allah it will serve you as a mount."
Ahmad and al-Tabarani recorded it with various chains; the narrators of one of them are the narrators of the Sahih, except Muhammad bin Ishaq, and he explicitly stated that he heard it directly (sama') in one of the two narrations.
