Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I was suffering from sleeplessness at night, and I complained about it to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He said: "Recite:
'Allahumma gharatin-nujum, wa hada'atil-'uyun, wa anta hayyun qayyum, ya Hayyu ya Qayyum, anim 'ayni, wa ahdi' layli' (O Allah, the stars have set and the eyes have become still, and You are Ever-Living, Self-Subsisting. O Ever-Living, O Self-Subsisting, put my eyes to sleep and make my night calm.)"
The narrator says: I recited this supplication, and that condition of mine went away.
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Amr bin al-Husayn al-Uqayli, who is matruk (abandoned).
