Sayyiduna Aban al-Muharibi (may Allah be pleased with him), who was part of a delegation whose members came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whichever Muslim servant recites this in the morning and in the evening:
'Alhamdu lillahil-ladhi la ushriku bihi shay'an, wa ashhadu an la ilaha illallah' (All praise belongs to Allah alone; I do not associate anyone as a partner with Him, and I bear witness that there is no god except Allah).
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) says: his sins are forgiven until the evening, and if he recites these words in the evening, his sins are forgiven until the morning."
Al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Aban bin Abi Ayyash, who is matruk (abandoned).
