Sayyiduna Abu Umamah al-Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever recites these words three times in the morning:
'Allahumma lakal-hamdu la ilaha illa ant, anta rabbi wa ana 'abduk, amantu bika mukhlisan laka dini, inni asbahtu 'ala 'ahdika wa wa'dika mastata't, atubu ilayka min sharri 'amali, wa astaghfiruka lidhunubiyal-lati la yaghfiruha illa ant'
"O Allah, to You alone belongs all praise; there is no deity except You; You are my Lord and I am Your servant; I have believed in You, making my religion sincerely for You; and I have entered the morning upon Your covenant and Your promise as far as I am able; I repent to You from the evil of my deeds, and I seek Your forgiveness for my sins; none besides You can forgive them."
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If that person dies on that day, he will enter Paradise." If that person recites these words three times in the evening:
'Allahumma lakal-hamdu la ilaha illa ant, anta rabbi wa ana 'abduk, amantu bika mukhlisan laka dini, amsaytu 'ala 'ahdika wa wa'dika mastata't, atubu ilayka min sharri 'amali, wa astaghfiruka lidhunubiyal-lati la yaghfiruha illa ant'
"O Allah, to You alone belongs all praise; there is no deity except You; You are my Lord and I am Your servant; I have believed in You, making my religion sincerely for You; and I have entered the evening upon Your covenant and Your promise as far as I am able; I repent to You from the evil of my deeds, and I seek Your forgiveness for my sins; none besides You can forgive them."
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If he dies during that night, he will enter Paradise."
Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) swore an oath such as he did not swear about anything else. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By Allah, any servant who recites it during the day and dies on that day will enter Paradise, and if he recites it in the evening and dies during that night, he will enter Paradise."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and recorded something similar in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains Ali bin Yazid al-Alhani, who is da'if (weak).
