Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught him a supplication and instructed him to have his family recite it every day. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever recites this in the morning:
'Labbayk Allahumma labbayk, labbayka wa sa'dayk, wal-khayru fi yadayk, wa minka wa bika wa ilayk. Allahumma ma qultu min qawlin, aw nadhartu min nadhrin, aw halaftu min halfin, fa mashi'atuka bayna yadayk, ma shi'ta kana, wa ma lam tasha' lam yakun, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa bik, innaka 'ala kulli shay'in qadir. "I am present, O Allah, I am present; and happiness can be attained from You, and all good is in Your hands; it is from You, by Your help, and it returns to You. O Allah, whatever statement I have made, whatever vow I have taken, or whatever oath I have sworn, Your will alone shall prevail (in every matter); whatever You will shall be, and whatever You do not will shall not be; nothing can happen without Your help; indeed, You have power over all things. O Allah, whatever prayer for mercy I have made, I have made it for the one on whom You have mercy, and whatever curse I have made, I have made it upon the one whom You have cursed. Indeed, You are my Protector in this world and the Hereafter; cause me to die as a Muslim and join me with the righteous. I ask You, O Allah, that I remain content with the decree of destiny, that there be a cool life after death, the delight of beholding Your Countenance, and a longing to come into Your presence, and that this be without facing any harmful affliction and without facing any misguiding trial. O Allah, I seek refuge with You from wronging others or being wronged, from transgressing or being transgressed against, or from committing a sin that nullifies deeds, or a sin that cannot be forgiven. O Allah, O Originator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the seen, Possessor of majesty and honour, I make a covenant with You in this worldly life and I take You as witness, and You are sufficient as a Witness, (I take You as witness) that I bear witness that there is no deity except You; You alone are the deity, You have no partner; to You alone belongs the dominion, to You alone belongs all praise, and You have power over all things. I bear witness that Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is Your servant and Your Messenger, and I also bear witness that Your promise is true, coming into Your presence is true, Paradise is true, and the Hour is coming, there is no doubt about it, and You will raise those who are in the graves. And I bear witness that if You leave me to my own self, it would be as though You leave me to ruin, to exposure, and to sins and errors. So I rely only on Your mercy; forgive all my sins, for none can forgive sins except You, and accept my repentance; indeed, You are the Most Accepting of repentance, the Most Merciful."
Ahmad and al-Tabarani recorded it. The narrators of one of al-Tabarani's two chains have been declared trustworthy, and the remaining chains contain Abu Bakr bin Abi Maryam, who is da'if (weak).
