Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 16984

Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever recites these words ten times in the morning:
(There is no deity except Allah Almighty; He alone is the deity, He has no partner; to Him alone belongs the dominion and to Him alone belongs all praise; He gives life and He gives death, and He has power over all things)
(the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, says:) then in return for each time he recites them, Allah Almighty records ten good deeds for him, erases ten of his sins because of it, and raises him ten degrees because of it; these words become for him like freeing 10 slaves, and they become for him a means of safety from the beginning of the day until its end, provided he does not do on that day any deed that overpowers them. If that person recites these words in the evening, he obtains the same (that is, the same reward)."
Ahmad and al-Tabarani recorded it with various chains; the narrators of Ahmad are thiqat (trustworthy), and so are some of al-Tabarani's chains.
