Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever finds it hard to worship at night, or is miserly about spending wealth, or is cowardly about fighting the enemy, let him recite 'Subhan Allahi wa bihamdihi' abundantly, for doing so is more beloved to Allah Almighty than a person spending a mountain of gold in the path of Allah."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Sulayman bin Ahmad al-Wasiti, whom Abdan declared trustworthy while the majority declared him da'if (weak); trustworthiness predominates among the rest of its narrators.
