Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 16822

Sayyiduna al-Bara' bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever gives some silver as a gift, or gives milk, or guides someone along a lane, it is like freeing a soul; and whoever recites these words: 'La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu, wa huwa 'ala kulli shay'in qadir' (There is no deity except Allah; He alone is the deity, He has no partner; to Him alone belongs the dominion, to Him alone belongs all praise, and He has power over all things), it will be like freeing a slave."
