وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ : أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " أُمَّتِي فِي الْأَرْضِ أَكْثَرُ مِنْ عَدَدِ الْحَصَى - أَوْ عَدَدِ الْمَطَرِ - " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ سُوَيْدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "The number of my Ummah on the earth will be greater than the number of pebbles—(the narrator is in doubt, or perhaps the words are:)—the number of raindrops."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Suwayd bin Ibrahim Abu Hatim, who is da'if (weak).
