Abu Labid states: A man from among us set out from Tahiyah as an emigrant; his name was Bayrah bin Asad. He reached Madinah a few days after the passing of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) saw him and realised that he was a stranger. He asked: "Where are you from?" He said: "From the people of Oman." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: "From the people of Oman?" He replied: "Yes!" So Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) took him by the hand, brought him to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: "This man is from the land about which I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'I know of a land called Oman, at whose edge lies the sea; there is a tribe of the Arabs there. If my messenger were to reach those people, they would not strike him with an arrow or a stone.'"
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except Limazah bin Zabbar, who is thiqah (trustworthy). Abu Ya'la also
recorded it in the same way.
