وَعَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ قَالَ : جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فَقَالَ : أَوْصِنِي . فَقَالَ : أُوصِيكَ بِتَقْوَى اللَّهِ ، وَإِيَّاكَ وَذِكْرُ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - ; فَإِنَّكَ لَا تَدْرِي مَا سَبَقَ لَهُمْ . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الثَّقَفِيُّ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .
Sa'id bin Jubayr narrates: A man came to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) and said: "Give me some advice." He said: "I advise you to have taqwa (fear) of Allah Almighty, and be careful when you mention the Companions of the Messenger of Allah, for you do not know what (merit) has already gone ahead for them."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Umar bin Abdullah al-Thaqafi, who is da'if (weak).
