وَعَنْ جَعْدَةَ بْنِ هُبَيْرَةَ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " خَيْرُ النَّاسِ قَرْنِي ، ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ، ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ، ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ، ثُمَّ الْآخَرُونَ أَرْذَلُ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ ، إِلَّا أَنَّ إِدْرِيسَ بْنَ يَزِيدَ الْأَوْدِيَّ لَمْ يَسْمَعْ مِنْ جَعْدَةَ ، وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ .
Sayyiduna Ja'dah bin Hubayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The best of people is my generation, then those who come after them, then those who come after them, then those who come after them; then the people who come after that will be the most base."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except that the narrator Idris bin Yazid al-Awdi did not hear from Sayyiduna Ja'dah (may Allah be pleased with him); and Allah knows best.
