Abu Ishaq narrates: A man from Kinda owed me a debt, and I kept going to him at the time of suhur. One day, at the Fajr prayer, I was in the mosque of Sayyiduna al-Ash'ath bin Qays (may Allah be pleased with him), and I prayed. When the imam said the salam, Sayyiduna al-Ash'ath bin Qays (may Allah be pleased with him) had a garment, a pair of sandals and five hundred dirhams placed in front of every person in the mosque. I said: "I am not one of the regular attendees of this mosque." He said: "Even though you are not one of the regular attendees of the mosque (accept it anyway)." I said: "Who is this person?" The people said that this was Sayyiduna al-Ash'ath bin Qays (may Allah be pleased with him), who had come from Makkah.
Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Abu Isra'il al-Mula'i, about whom there is disagreement, and the rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
