عَنْ زِيَادَةَ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ مَسْعُودٍ : أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - سَمَّاهُ مُطَاعًا ، وَقَالَ لَهُ : " يَا مُطَاعُ ، أَنْتَ مُطَاعٌ فِي قَوْمِكَ " . وَحَمَلَهُ عَلَى فَرَسٍ أَبْلَقَ ، وَأَعْطَاهُ الرَّايَةَ وَقَالَ لَهُ : " يَا مُطَاعُ ، امْضِ إِلَى أَصْحَابِكَ ، فَمَنْ دَخَلَ تَحْتَ رَايَتِي هَذِهِ فَقَدْ أَمِنَ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الصَّغِيرِ وَالْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِي إِسْنَادِهِ مَنْ لَمْ أَعْرِفْهُمْ .

Ziyadah narrates from his grandfather, Sayyiduna Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) named him "Muta'" (that is, a leader). He said to him: O Muta'! You are "Muta'" among your people. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave him a piebald horse, gave him the banner and said to him: O Muta'! Go to your companions; whoever enters beneath this banner of mine will be safe from the punishment.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Saghir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its chain contains narrators whom I do not know.
