Muhammad bin Ishaq states: This is Sayyiduna Asim (may Allah be pleased with him) bin Adi bin al-Jadd bin Ajlan bin Dubay'ah. He belonged to Banu Bali, and he was an ally of Banu Ubayd bin Zayd bin Malik bin Awf bin Amr bin Awf bin Malik bin al-Aws. He set out with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) towards Badr; the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent him back, and assigned him his share along with the people of Badr.
It is stated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) appointed him as his deputy over the area called al-Aliyah.
It is stated that he lived to the age of 115.
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators up to Ibn Ishaq are thiqat (trustworthy).
