Ali bin Zayd bin Jud'an narrates: At the time of Hudaybiyah, Sayyiduna Urwah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said to his people: O my people, I have seen kings and spoken with them; let me go to him (that is, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)) so that I may speak with him. Then he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at Hudaybiyah. Urwah began speaking with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and meanwhile he would also touch the beard of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Sayyiduna al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him) was standing at the head of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), fully armed. Sayyiduna al-Mughirah (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Urwah: Keep your hand back before it can no longer return to you! Urwah raised his head, looked and said: By Allah, you are the very one; I am still paying the penalty for your treachery, and it has not yet been settled. Then Urwah went back to his people and said: O my people, I have seen kings and spoken with them. By Allah, I have never seen anyone like Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and he is not a king. I saw the sacrificial animals held back, eating their own hair, and my opinion about you is that a calamity will soon strike you too. Then he went back, together with those of his people who were with him, and he climbed the wall of Ta'if and bore witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is the Messenger of Allah. A man from his people shot him with an arrow and killed him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "All praise belongs to Allah Almighty, who has placed in my Ummah someone like the companion of Ya-Sin."
Imam Abu Ya'la recorded it as a mursal report, and its chain is hasan (good).
