وَعَنْ عَلِيٍّ - يَعْنِي ابْنَ طَالِبٍ - : أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " إِنِّي لَأُعْطِي قَوْمًا أَتَأَلَّفُهُمْ ، وَأَكِلُ قَوْمًا إِلَى مَا عِنْدَهُمْ - أَوْ إِلَى مَا جَعَلَ اللَّهُ فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ - مِنْهُمْ : فُرَاتُ بْنُ حَيَّانَ " . رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَفِيهِ ضِرَارُ بْنُ صُرَدَ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .
Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I give some people (wealth and the like), thereby winning their hearts, and I entrust other people to what (faith) they have (the narrator is unsure; perhaps the words are:) I entrust them to what (faith) Allah Almighty has placed in their hearts. Among them is Furat bin Hayyan."
