عَنْ زِرِّ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ قَالَ : وَفَدْتُ فِي خِلَافَةِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ ، وَإِنَّمَا حَمَلَنِي عَلَى الْوِفَادَةِ لُقِيُّ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ وَأَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَلَقِيتُ صَفْوَانَ بْنَ عَسَّالٍ الْمُرَادِيَّ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ : هَلْ رَأَيْتَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، وَغَزَوْتُ مَعَهُ اثْنَتَيْ عَشْرَةَ غَزْوَةً . رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ غَيْرَ عَاصِمِ ابْنِ بَهْدَلَةَ وَحَدِيثُهُ حَسَنٌ .
Zirr bin Hubaysh narrates: During the caliphate of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), I came with a delegation. I had joined that delegation so that I could meet Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) and the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I met Sayyiduna Safwan bin Assal al-Muradi (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked him: "Did you see the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?" He replied: "Yes, and I also took part in twelve military expeditions with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)."
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except for Asim bin Bahdalah, and his hadith is hasan (good).
