وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ : كَانَ يَعْرِضُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - الْقُرْآنَ فِي كُلِّ سَنَةٍ مَرَّةً ، فَلَمَّا كَانَ الْعَامُ الَّذِي قُبِضَ فِيهِ عَرَضَهُ عَلَيْهِ مَرَّتَيْنِ . رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: He (that is, Sayyiduna Jibril, peace be upon him) used to review the Qur'an with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) once every year. When the year came in which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, he reviewed it with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) twice.
