Abu al-Sha'tha' Sulaym narrated: I came to Madinah and found Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrating hadith from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him). I said: "You narrate hadith from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), while you yourself have seen the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?" Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: "He has heard (from him)."
Al-Bazzar recorded it through two routes; in one of them is the narrator Sa'id bin Sufyan al-Jahdari, whom more than one scholar declared trustworthy, though there is weakness in him, and the remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).
