وَعَنْ قَيْسٍ - يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي حَازِمٍ - قَالَ : قَالَ خَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ : مَا لَيْلَةٌ تُهْدَى إِلَى بَيْتِي فِيهَا عَرُوسٌ ، أَنَا لَهَا مُحِبٌّ وَأُبَشَّرُ فِيهَا بِغُلَامٍ بِأَحَبَّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ لَيْلَةٍ شَدِيدَةِ الْجَلِيدِ فِي سِرِيَّةٍ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ أُصَبِّحُ بِهَا الْعَدُوَّ . رَوَاهُ أَبُو يَعْلَى ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Qays bin Abi Hazim said: Sayyiduna Khalid bin al-Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "A night in which a bride, a woman whom I love, is brought to my house, and I am also given the good news that she will bear me a son, is not dearer to me than a harsh night in which there is a military expedition of the Muhajirun and the enemy is to be attacked the next morning."
