وَعَنِ الْوَاقِدِيِّ قَالَ : وَفِيهَا مَاتَ رَافِعُ بْنُ خَدِيجٍ فِي أَوَّلِ السَّنَةِ ، وَحَضَرَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ - رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ - جِنَازَتَهُ - يَعْنِي سَنَةَ ثَلَاثٍ وَسَبْعِينَ - . وَكَانَ لِرَافِعٍ يَوْمَ مَاتَ سِتٌّ وَثَمَانُونَ سَنَةً . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ .
Al-Waqidi states: In that same year Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away, at the beginning of the year, and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) attended his funeral. The narrator says: By this 73 AH is meant. At the time Sayyiduna Rafi' (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away, he was 86 years old.
