عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ : كَنَّانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - بِأَبِي حَمْزَةَ . قُلْتُ : رَوَى لَهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ كَنَّانِي بِبَقْلَةَ كُنْتُ أَجْتَنِيهَا . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ جَابِرٌ الْجُعْفِيُّ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave me the kunyah "Abu Hamzah". (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Al-Tirmidhi has recorded from him
this report, that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave me this kunyah because of a herb (called "hamzah") which I used to search for and pick.
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Jabir al-Ju'fi, and he is da'if (weak).
