Sayyiduna Abu al-Yusr Ka'b bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: By Allah! I was with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at Khaybar in the evening, when the goats of a Jewish man came along, heading for their fortress, while we were besieging them. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Who will feed us from these goats?" I submitted: "O Messenger of Allah! I will do it." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then do it!" The narrator said: So I went running like a male ostrich. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw me going, he said: "O Allah, let us benefit from him." The narrator said: I reached the goats; the front of the flock had already entered the fortress. I seized two goats from the rear of the flock, tucked them under my arms, and then came running back with them as though I had nothing with me, and I presented them both to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The people slaughtered them and they ate their meat. Sayyiduna Abu al-Yusr (may Allah be pleased with him) is one of the last of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to pass away. Whenever he narrated this hadith he would weep, and then he would say: "Benefit from me! By my life, I am among the last of them (that is, the Companions)."
Ahmad recorded it through some men of Banu Salimah from Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him), and the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
