Abdullah bin Amir bin Rabi'ah said: Sayyiduna Harithah bin al-Nu'man (may Allah be pleased with him) states: Once I passed by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); at that time the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was seated with Sayyiduna Jibril (peace be upon him) at "al-Maqa'id". I greeted him with salam and then passed on. When I came back, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had also finished in the meantime. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Did you see the man who was with me?" I submitted: "Yes!" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That was Jibril, and he returned your greeting."
Ahmad and al-Tabarani recorded it, and the narrators of both are the narrators of the Sahih.
