Amir al-Sha'bi said: In the blessed time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), six people from the Ansar compiled the Qur'an (perhaps this means that they memorized it completely): Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Abu Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him), and Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him); while Sayyiduna Jariyah bin Mujammi' (may Allah be pleased with him) had read the whole Qur'an except for one or two surahs.
Al-Tabarani recorded it as mursal (with a missing Companion link); its chain contains Ibrahim bin Muhammad bin Uthman al-Hadrami, whom I do not know, and the rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
