Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 15672

Ikrimah, the freed slave of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), narrates: Sayyiduna Suhayb (may Allah be pleased with him) gave half of his wealth to his masters as a ransom, then he set out to emigrate. On the way those people caught up with him, so Sayyiduna Suhayb (may Allah be pleased with him) gave them the rest of his remaining wealth as well and then went on his way.
Al-Tabarani recorded it as a "mursal" narration, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
