وَعَنْ أَبِي حَبَّةَ الْبَدْرِيِّ قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَوْمَ حُنَيْنٍ لَا يَنْظُرُ فِي نَاحِيَةٍ إِلَّا رَأَى أَبَا سُفْيَانَ بْنَ الْحَارِثِ يُقَاتِلُ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " إِنَّ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ خَيْرُ أَهْلِي - أَوْ مِنْ خَيْرِ أَهْلِي - " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَالْأَوْسَطِ ، وَإِسْنَادُهُ حَسَنٌ .
Sayyiduna Abu Habbah al-Badri (may Allah be pleased with him) reports: At the Battle of Hunayn, in whichever direction the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) looked, he saw Sayyiduna Abu Sufyan bin al-Harith (may Allah be pleased with him) fighting. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed Abu Sufyan is the best of my family. (The narrator is unsure, or perhaps the words are:) Indeed Abu Sufyan is one of the best of my family."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its chain is hasan (good).
