Sayyiduna al-Nadr bin Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) came to the father of Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: Today I have brought something that you will dislike. He said: You keep bringing things I dislike from this Bedouin. Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) said: That Bedouin is one whom Allah Almighty has selected and chosen, and made a prophet. That man said: What have you brought from him? Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Wine has been made unlawful. That man said: This is the separation between me and you. And that man died in a state of polytheism. Then Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her). She said: I cannot marry you while you are a polytheist. Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: No, by Allah! This is not your real aim. Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) asked: Then what is my aim? He said: Your aim lies in the yellow and the white (that is, gold and silver). Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I make you and the Prophet of Allah witnesses that if you accept Islam, I am content with Islam from you. He asked: Who will stand for me in this matter? Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) said: O Anas! Get up and go with your uncle. So he stood up and placed his hand on my shoulder, and we set off until we came near the Prophet of Allah. the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had heard our conversation; he said: This is Abu Talhah, between whose eyes is the honour (or radiance) of Islam. He greeted the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with salam and said: I bear witness that there is no god except Allah Almighty, and that Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is His servant and His Messenger. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arranged his marriage after he had accepted Islam. Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) bore him a boy, and the child was very dear to his father. Then Allah Almighty took the child's soul. Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) came and asked: O Umm Sulaym, how is my son? She said: He is in a good state. Then Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) asked: Will you not eat? I have kept your food aside for you. Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: I presented the food to him, then I said: O Abu Talhah, if something given on loan was borrowed by some people, and the loaned thing stayed with them for as long as Allah willed, and then the people who had lent it sent someone for their loaned thing and took it back, would the others have the right to wail and lament? He answered: No. Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Your son has departed from this world. Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: Where is he? Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) said: He is there. So he went in, removed the cloth from him and recited: Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un (We belong to Allah and to Him we return). Then he went to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and told the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) what Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) had said. the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By the One who sent me with the truth! Allah Almighty has created a son in this woman's womb, and that is because of this woman's patience over her child." The narrator narrates: When Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) gave birth to that child, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Anas! Go to your mother and tell her: When you cut your son's umbilical cord, do not let him taste anything until you send him to me. Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) placed that child on my arms, and I brought him to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Bring me three Ajwah dates. Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I brought them, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) threw away their stones, then he put the date in his mouth and chewed it, then he opened the child's mouth and put it in his mouth, and the child began to suck on it. the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: He is an Ansari; he must love dates. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Go to your mother and tell her: May Allah Almighty bless this child for you and make him righteous and pious.
Imam al-Bazzar recorded this narration, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except Ahmad bin Mansur al-Ramadi, and he is thiqah (trustworthy).
