عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ : أُهْدِيَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قِلَادَةٌ مِنْ جَزْعٍ مُلَمَّعَةٌ بِالذَّهَبِ ، وَنِسَاؤُهُ مُجْتَمِعَاتٌ فِي بَيْتٍ كُلُّهُنَّ ، وَأُمَامَةُ بِنْتُ أَبِي الْعَاصِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ جَارِيَةٌ تَلْعَبُ فِي جَانِبِ الْبَيْتِ بِالتُّرَابِ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " كَيْفَ تَرَيْنَ هَذِهِ ؟ " . فَنَظَرْنَا إِلَيْهَا ، فَقُلْنَا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، مَا رَأَيْنَا أَحْسَنَ مِنْ هَذِهِ قَطُّ ، وَلَا أَعْجَبَ . فَقَالَ : " ارْدُدْنَهَا إِلَيَّ " . فَلَمَّا أَخَذَهَا قَالَ : " وَاللَّهِ لَأَضَعَنَّهَا فِي رَقَبَةِ أَحَبِّ أَهْلِ الْبَيْتِ إِلَيَّ " . قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : فَأَظْلَمَتْ عَلَيَّ الْأَرْضُ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ خَشْيَةَ أَنْ يَضَعَهَا فِي رَقَبَةِ غَيْرِي مِنْهُنَّ ، وَلَا أَرَاهُنَّ إِلَّا أَصَابَهُنَّ مِثْلَ الَّذِي أَصَابَنِي ، وَوَجَمْنَا جَمِيعًا سُكُوتًا ، فَأَقْبَلَ بِهَا حَتَّى وَضَعَهَا فِي رَقَبَةِ أُمَامَةَ بِنْتِ أَبِي الْعَبَّاسِ ، فَسُرِّيَ عَنَّا . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ، وَأَحْمَدُ بِاخْتِصَارٍ ، وَأَبُو يَعْلَى ، وَإِسْنَادُ أَحْمَدَ وَأَبِي يَعْلَى حَسَنٌ .
Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: A necklace made of Yemeni beads, with gold set on it, was presented to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). All the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) were gathered in the house, and Umamah bint Abi al-As bin al-Rabi', who was a little girl, was playing with the dust in a corner of the house. the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: What is your opinion about this? We women looked at the necklace and said: We have never seen anything more beautiful or finer than this (necklace). the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Give it to me. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took it, he said: By Allah! I will put this necklace around the neck of the one most beloved to me among my household. Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) says: The earth became dark for me between me and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), out of fear that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) might put that necklace around the neck of someone other than me; and as for the other wives, my view is that they were in the same state as I was. We all remained silent. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took the necklace and put it around the neck of Umamah bint Abi al-As, and our distress was lifted.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration, and these words are his; Imam Ahmad recorded it in abridged form, and Imam Abu Ya'la also recorded it. The chain of Imam Ahmad and Imam Abu Ya'la is hasan (good).
