عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ : تَزَوَّجَ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - سَوْدَةَ بِنْتَ زَمْعَةَ ، فَجَاءَ أَخُوهَا مِنَ الْحَجِّ عَبْدُ بْنُ زَمْعَةَ فَجَعَلَ يَحْثُو عَلَى رَأْسِهِ التُّرَابَ ، فَلَمَّا أَسْلَمَ قَالَ : إِنِّي لَسَفِيهٌ يَوْمَ أَحْثُو عَلَى رَأْسِي التُّرَابَ أَنْ تَزَوَّجَ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - سَوْدَةَ . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ . وَقَدْ تَقَدَّمَتْ رِوَايَةُ أَحْمَدَ لَهُ فِي مَنَاقِبِ عَائِشَةَ - رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا - .
Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married Sayyidah Sawdah bint Zam'ah (may Allah be pleased with her). Her brother Abd bin Zam'ah came back from Hajj and began throwing dust on his head. Later, when he accepted Islam, he said: I was foolish at the time I threw dust on my head because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had married Sayyidah Sawdah (may Allah be pleased with her).
At-Tabarani recorded it; its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy). A narration recorded by Ahmad has already passed in the chapter on the virtues of Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her).
