Sayyidah Aishah al-Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that she asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about the bathhouse (hammam). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "After me there will soon be bathhouses, but there is no good in bathhouses for women." Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "O Messenger of Allah! May a woman enter it wearing a waist-wrapper?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No! She may not enter it even with a waist-wrapper, a shift and a head-covering. Any woman who removes her head-covering anywhere other than her husband's house removes the veil that lies between her and her Lord." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say:
Imam Abu Dawud recorded this in abridged form.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Ibn Lahi'ah, who is da'if (weak).
