Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in a dream at midday; his hair was dishevelled and covered with dust, and he had a flask containing blood, and he was searching for something in it. I asked: "What is this?" He said: "This is the blood of Husayn and his companions; I have been continuously occupied with it today." Ammar said: We remembered that day, and we found that Sayyiduna Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) had been martyred on that very day.
Imam Ahmad and Imam al-Tabarani recorded it, and the narrators of Imam Ahmad are the narrators of the Sahih.
