Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) states: (Once) Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) was riding behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on a mount. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: What is the right of Allah Almighty over the servants? Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: Allah and His Messenger know best. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: His right over them (the servants) is that they (the servants) worship Him alone and do not associate anyone with Him as a partner. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do you know what the right of the servants over Allah Almighty will be when they worship Him and do not associate anyone with Him as a partner? Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Allah and His Messenger know best. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Their (the servants') right over Him will be that He admits them into Paradise. Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! Shall I not go to the people and give them the glad tidings? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No! Leave them, so that they keep doing deeds.
Imam al-Bazzar recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy). And Allah knows best.
