Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal states: Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away at the age of eighty-three. He died ten miles from Madinah, and his body was carried on men's shoulders to Madinah. In those days Marwan was the governor of Madinah. Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) accepted Islam at the age of seventeen.
Al-Tabarani recorded it.
