Abu Yahya narrates: When Ibn Muljam struck Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Do with him what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to do with a man who intended to kill him (peace and blessings be upon him); he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Kill him and then burn him.'"
Ahmad recorded it. Its chain contains Imran bin Zabyan, whom Ibn Hibban and others declared thiqah (trustworthy), and there is weakness in him. The rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
