وَعَنْ أَبِي سِنَانٍ الدُّؤَلِيِّ : أَنَّهُ عَادَ عَلِيًّا فِي شَكْوَى اشْتَكَاهَا ، فَقَالَ لَهُ : لَقَدْ تَخَوَّفْنَا عَلَيْكَ فِي شَكْوَاكَ هَذِهِ . فَقَالَ : وَلَكِنِّي وَاللَّهِ مَا تَخَوَّفْتُ عَلَى نَفْسِي مِنْهُ ؛ لِأَنِّي سَمِعْتُ الصَّادِقَ الْمَصْدُوقَ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ : " إِنَّكَ سَتُضْرَبُ ضَرْبَةً هُنَا ، وَضَرْبَةً هَاهُنَا - وَأَشَارَ إِلَى صُدْغِهِ - فَيَسِيلُ دَمُهَا حَتَّى يُخَضِّبَ لِحْيَتَكَ ، وَيَكُونَ صَاحِبُهَا أَشْقَاهَا كَمَا كَانَ عَاقِرُ النَّاقَةِ أَشْقَى ثَمُودَ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَإِسْنَادُهُ حَسَنٌ .

Abu Sinan al-Du'ali narrates that he went to visit Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) during an illness of his, and he said to Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him): "We are anxious about you on account of this illness of yours." Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "But by Allah! I have no fear for myself on account of this illness, because I heard the Truthful, the Confirmed in truth (peace and blessings be upon him), saying: 'You will be struck a blow here, and struck a blow here.'" Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) pointed to his temple, indicating that blood would flow from here and dye your beard. "And the one who does this will be the most wretched of people, just as the one who hamstrung the she-camel was the most wretched of the people of Thamud."
