Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) looked at Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: "None but a believer will love you, and none but a hypocrite will hate you. Whoever loves you loves me, and whoever hates you hates me. My beloved is the beloved of Allah, and the one hateful to me is hateful to Allah. Woe to the one who hates you after me."
Al-Tabarani recorded this narration in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy), except that in the biography of Abu al-Azhar Ahmad bin al-Azhar al-Naysaburi it is written that Ma'mar had a nephew who was a Rafidi, and he inserted this narration into his (Ma'mar's) writings. Ma'mar was an awe-inspiring man who was not asked to review (his books), and Abd al-Razzaq heard it from him.
