بَابٌ مِنْهُ جَامِعٌ فِيمَنْ يُحِبُّهُ وَمَنْ يُبْغِضُهُ .

وَعَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ : اشْتَكَى عَلِيًّا النَّاسُ ، فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فِينَا خَطِيبًا ، فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ : " أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ ، لَا تَشْكُوا عَلِيًّا ؛ فَوَاللَّهِ إِنَّهُ لَأَخْشَنُ فِي ذَاتِ اللَّهِ أَوْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ .

Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Some people complained about Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up among us to deliver a sermon, and I heard him (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "O people, do not complain about Ali. By Allah, he is the most rigorous concerning the Essence of Allah (the narrator is unsure; perhaps the words are:) in the path of Allah."
