وَعَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ : طَلَبَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَوَجَدَنِي فِي جَدْوَلٍ نَائِمًا ، فَقَالَ : " قُمْ مَا أَلُومُ النَّاسَ يُسَمُّونَكَ أَبَا تُرَابٍ " . قَالَ : فَرَآنِي كَأَنِّي وَجَدْتُ فِي نَفْسِي مِنْ ذَلِكَ ، فَقَالَ لِي : " وَاللَّهِ لَأُرْضِيَنَّكَ ، أَنْتَ أَخِي وَأَبُو وَلَدِي ، تُقَاتِلُ عَنْ سُنَّتِي ، وَتُبَرِّئُ ذِمَّتِي ، مَنْ مَاتَ فِي عَهْدِي فَهُوَ كَنْزُ اللَّهِ ، وَمَنْ مَاتَ فِي عَهْدِكَ فَقَدْ قَضَى نَحْبَهُ ، وَمَنْ مَاتَ يُحِبُّكَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِكَ خَتَمَ اللَّهُ بِالْأَمْنِ وَالْإِيمَانِ ، مَا طَلَعَتْ شَمْسٌ أَوْ غَرَبَتْ ، وَمَنْ مَاتَ يُبْغِضُكَ مَاتَ مِيتَةً جَاهِلِيَّةً ، وَحُوسِبَ بِمَا عَمِلَ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ " .
رَوَاهُ أَبُو يَعْلَى ، وَفِيهِ زَكَرِيَّا الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .

Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) looked for me and found me sleeping in a certain place. He said: Get up! I would not blame people if they called you Abu Turab. The narrator says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw me as though I had felt uneasy about it, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Get up! By Allah, I will make you pleased. You are my brother and the father of my children. You will fight for the sake of my Sunnah and discharge my obligations. Whoever dies in my time will be a treasure of Allah Almighty; whoever dies in your time will have fulfilled his duty; and whoever dies loving you even after your death, Allah Almighty will seal his end with security and faith, and this will continue as long as the sun rises or sets. And whoever dies hating you will die the death of the Jahiliyyah, and he will be called to account for the deeds he did in Islam.
