Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 1464

It is reported about Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man asked: "How much water is sufficient for me for ablution (wudu)?" He said: "One mudd." The man asked: "How much water is sufficient for my ritual bath (ghusl)?" He said: "One sa'." The man said: "That will not be enough for me." Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "May you lose your mother! This water sufficed one who was better than you, and that is the Messenger of Allah."
Ahmad recorded it. Discussion of it has already passed, and other hadiths have also passed, in the chapter which mentions how much water suffices for ablution and ghusl.
