Sayyiduna Zayd bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the people, adjuring them by Allah; he adjured by Allah every person who had heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever's mawla I am, Ali too is his mawla. O Allah, love whoever loves him and be hostile to whoever is hostile to him." (The narrator says:) Twelve Companions who had fought at Badr stood up and testified to it. (Sayyiduna Zayd bin Arqam says:) I was one of those who concealed it, and so my eyesight was taken away.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, without the mention of the loss of eyesight, the concealment and the supplication of Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him).
