Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 14588

Shu'bah narrates: I asked Abu Ishaq: Are you older than al-Sha'bi? He replied: Al-Sha'bi is one or two years older than me. The narrator says: Abu Ishaq had seen Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), and he used to describe his appearance to us: his belly was large, and the hair at the sides of his head had receded. Shu'bah says: Abu Ishaq was older than Abu al-Bakhtari; Abu al-Bakhtari did not live in the time of Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and did not see him.
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
