Sayyiduna al-Zubayr bin al-Awwam (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: On the occasion of the Conquest of Makkah, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had a man from Quraysh bound and executed. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "After this day no Qurashi will be bound and executed, except the man who kills Uthman; his case is different. You must kill him; if you do not do so, you will be slaughtered like sheep and goats."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and al-Bazzar recorded it in abridged form. Both of them stated: This narration is reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) only with this chain. The chain of al-Tabarani contains Abu Khaythamah Mus'ab bin Sa'id, and the chain of al-Bazzar contains Abdullah bin Shabib, and both of them are da'if (weak).
